Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

Zest of 1 lemon

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)

Fresh herbs and lemon wedges (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, egg, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, parsley, basil, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well-combined.

Form the Meatballs: With clean hands, scoop out portions of the mixture and roll them into balls about 1-2 inches in diameter. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Cook the Meatballs: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown.

Bake the Meatballs: After searing, transfer the meatballs back to the baking sheet and place them in the preheated oven. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve the meatballs garnished with fresh herbs and lemon wedges on the side.

              Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 40 minutes | Servings: 4-6

Enjoy these flavorful and zesty turkey meatballs as a perfect appetizer or as a delightful main dish paired with a side of spaghetti, salad, or in a sub sandwich!
