Ingredients

For the Wontons:

1 cup ground pork (or chicken)

1/2 cup shrimp, finely chopped

2 green onions, chopped

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 package wonton wrappers

For the Soup:

6 cups chicken broth

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch piece of ginger, sliced

1 cup bok choy, chopped

1 cup mushrooms, sliced (shiitake or button)

2 green onions, chopped for garnish

Fresh cilantro for garnish

Optional: Chili oil for heat

Instructions

Prepare the Wontons:

    - In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, shrimp, green onions, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until everything is thoroughly combined.

      - Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean, dry surface. Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper.

        - Moisten the edges with a little water, fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, and press to seal. Bring the two corners of the triangle together, pinching to secure. Repeat until all filling is used.

          Make the Soup Base:

            - In a large pot, heat a teaspoon of sesame oil over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger slices; sauté for about 2 minutes until fragrant.

              - Pour in the chicken broth, add soy sauce and bring to a gentle simmer. Allow it to cook for about 5 minutes.

                Cook the Wontons:

                  - Carefully drop the wontons into the simmering broth. Add the mushrooms and bok choy. Let everything cook together for about 5-7 minutes, or until the wontons float to the surface and are cooked through.

                    Serve:

                      - Ladle the soup into bowls, ensuring each serving has wontons, mushrooms, and bok choy.

                        - Garnish with chopped green onions and fresh cilantro.

                          - Drizzle with chili oil if adding heat.

                            Enjoy:

                              - Serve the Wonton Soup Delight hot and enjoy your delicious journey into the comforting flavors of this warm dish!
