Ingredients

For the Wontons:

1 cup ground pork (or chicken)

2 tablespoons finely chopped green onions

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon grated ginger

1 clove garlic, minced

1 package wonton wrappers

For the Soup:

6 cups chicken broth

2 cups water

1 cup bok choy, chopped

1 cup mushrooms, sliced (shiitake or button)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)

Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Make the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and minced garlic. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Prepare the Wontons: Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the filling into the center of the wrapper. Moisten the edges with a little water, fold the wrapper over to form a triangle, and press to seal. Then, bring the two corners of the triangle together and pinch to seal. Repeat until all filling is used.

Prepare the Broth: In a large pot, combine chicken broth and water, and bring to a boil. Add the soy sauce and oyster sauce, stirring well.

Add Vegetables: Toss in the chopped bok choy and sliced mushrooms into the broth. Let them simmer for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender.

Cook the Wontons: Gently add the prepared wontons to the boiling broth. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the wontons float and are fully cooked (the filling should reach an internal temperature of 165°F).

Taste and Adjust Seasoning: Before serving, taste the broth and season with salt and pepper as needed.

Serve: Ladle the hot soup into bowls, making sure to include wontons and vegetables. Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro. Enjoy your delicious wonton soup!
