2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tbsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

1 cup whole milk

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

3 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup brewed espresso, cooled

For the White Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

6 oz white chocolate, melted and cooled

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

For Garnish:

White chocolate shavings

Coffee beans (optional)

Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and cooled espresso until well combined.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Bake the Cake: Divide the batter equally between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Prepare the Frosting: In a bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until combined. Pour in the melted white chocolate and vanilla extract; add a pinch of salt. Beat until the frosting is fluffy.

Assemble the Cake: Place one layer of cake on a serving platter. Spread a generous layer of frosting over the top. Place the second layer on top and cover the entire cake with the remaining frosting, smoothing the sides and top.

Decorate: Garnish with white chocolate shavings, and if desired, scatter some coffee beans on top. Optionally, dust with cocoa powder for a lovely finish.

Serve: Slice the cake and enjoy the rich layers of chocolate and creamy white chocolate frosting with friends and family.
