2 cups ripe tomatoes, diced (or one can of crushed tomatoes)

1 cup cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 medium onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon sugar (to balance acidity)

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Sauté Aromatics: In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent (about 5 minutes). Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
