Ingredients

1 small head of green cabbage, finely shredded (about 8 cups)

1 medium-sized carrot, grated

1/4 cup finely chopped green onions (optional)

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/2 cup buttermilk

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon celery seed (optional)

Dash of garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and grated carrot. If desired, mix in the chopped green onions for added flavor.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, buttermilk, apple cider vinegar, granulated sugar, salt, black pepper, celery seed, and garlic powder until smooth and well combined.

Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss gently until all the vegetables are evenly coated with the dressing.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (preferably overnight) to allow the flavors to meld and the coleslaw to chill.

Before serving, give the coleslaw a good stir to recombine the ingredients. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed. Enjoy your delicious homemade KFC-style coleslaw!
