Ingredients

9 lasagna noodles

1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage

2 cups marinara sauce

15 oz ricotta cheese

1 egg

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the lasagna noodles in boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage until browned, breaking it into crumbles. Drain the excess fat.

Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for a few minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.

Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture on top, followed by a third of the mozzarella cheese and more meat sauce.

Repeat the layers: another 3 noodles, remaining ricotta mixture, another third of mozzarella, and more meat sauce.

Top with the final 3 noodles, remaining meat sauce, remaining mozzarella cheese, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil (to prevent sticking, you can spray the foil with cooking spray or place it on top).

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Let the lasagna cool for about 10-15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
