1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 teaspoons onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and black pepper, to taste

4 slices of cheddar cheese

4 hamburger buns, toasted

1 cup dill pickle slices

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey

1/4 cup chopped fresh chives (optional)

Crispy fried onions, for topping

Instructions
 

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix until everything is well incorporated. Avoid over-mixing to keep the burgers tender.

    Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty slightly larger than the bun since they will shrink while cooking. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

      Preheat a grill or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip them.

        Immediately place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty after flipping. Continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.

          While the patties are cooking, prepare the special sauce by mixing mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, and chopped chives (if using) in a small bowl. Adjust seasoning as needed.
