1 cup heavy cream

1 cup sweetened condensed milk

1 teaspoon pure peppermint extract

2 cups powdered sugar

1 cup crushed peppermint candies (plus extra for garnish)

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (optional for a chocolate layer)

Pinch of salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

In a large mixing bowl, combine heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk. Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on medium speed until it's slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes.

    Add the peppermint extract, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the mixture. Mix to combine.

      Gradually sift in the powdered sugar and mix on low speed until incorporated. Increase speed and beat until the mixture is fluffy and holds soft peaks.

        Gently fold in the crushed peppermint candies until evenly distributed throughout the mixture. If you want a chocolate layer, take half of the mixture and mix in cocoa powder until well combined.

          Prepare a 9x9-inch baking dish by lining it with parchment paper. Pour the white peppermint mixture into the dish and spread it evenly. If using the chocolate layer, spoon it on top and swirl it gently with a spatula to create a marbled effect.

            Sprinkle extra crushed peppermint candies on top for garnish.

              Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set. For best results, chill overnight.

                Once set, remove from the dish using the parchment paper as handles. Cut into small squares or shapes using a sharp knife.
