Ingredients

40 Saltine crackers

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup brown sugar, packed

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy removal.

Arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, covering the entire surface.

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, stir in the brown sugar and bring to a gentle boil. Allow it to boil for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly, until it reaches a caramel-like consistency.

Pour the hot mixture evenly over the Saltine crackers, using a spatula to spread it out if necessary. Be sure to cover all the crackers.

Bake in the preheated oven for 5-6 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbling. Watch closely to avoid burning.

Remove the baking sheet from the oven and immediately sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let it sit for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the chocolate to soften.

Use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee layer. If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts on top and press them down gently into the chocolate.

For an extra touch, sprinkle a little sea salt on top for a sweet and salty contrast.

Allow the bark to cool completely at room temperature. Once hardened, transfer it to the refrigerator for about 30 minutes for easier cutting.

Break into pieces and enjoy your Saltine Toffee Bark Delight during the holidays or any time you crave a decadent sweet treat!
