Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Salt and pepper to taste

4 slices of mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup pizza sauce

1/2 cup sliced pepperoni

4 hamburger buns

2 tablespoons olive oil

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, oregano, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix well until combined, but don't overwork the meat.

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and lightly grease with olive oil.

Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on the first side until browned. Flip the burgers and immediately place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each patty.

Add the pizza sauce and sliced pepperoni on top of the cheesed patties. Cover the skillet or grill to melt the cheese (about 2-3 minutes).

Meanwhile, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Once the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked through (160°F internal temperature), assemble the burgers by placing the cheesy patty on the bottom half of the bun, and adding fresh basil leaves on top.

Top with the other half of the bun and serve with extra pizza sauce on the side if desired.
