Ingredients

1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough

12 mini cocktail sausages (or hot dogs)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 egg (for egg wash)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Optional: 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder for added flavor

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Dough: Open the can of crescent roll dough and unroll it on a clean surface. Pinch the seams together if the dough has perforations to create a single sheet.

Cut the Dough: Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut the dough into 2-inch squares. You should get roughly 24 squares.

Add the Sausages: Place a mini cocktail sausage on each square. Add a small amount of shredded cheddar cheese beside each sausage, and if you desire an extra kick, sprinkle a bit of garlic powder.

Dijon Mustard: Use a toothpick or small brush to dab a little Dijon mustard on each sausage for an added zing.

Wrap the Sausages: Fold two opposite corners of the dough square over the sausage and cheese, slightly overlapping them. Then, roll the entire square around the sausage to form a snug pillow.

Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk the egg until it’s well combined. Brush the egg wash over each wrapped sausage to help them turn golden brown.

Garnish: Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of each of the piggy pillows and add some chopped chives for a pop of color and freshness.

Bake: Place the wrapped sausages on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-18 minutes or until they are golden brown and puffed up.

Serve: Let them cool slightly before serving. These are fantastic warm or at room temperature, and they pair well with additional Dijon mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.
