Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or thinly sliced steak

1 medium onion, diced

1 green bell pepper, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup provolone cheese, shredded

1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

1 package (1 lb) refrigerated pizza dough

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Extra flour for dusting

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it lightly.

Cook the Filling: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or sliced steak. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula if using ground beef. Drain excess fat if needed.

Add Vegetables: Stir in the diced onion, green bell pepper, and mushrooms (if using). Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

Season: Add minced garlic and Worcestershire sauce; season with salt and pepper. Cook for another minute until fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Roll the Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.

Assemble Stromboli: Sprinkle half of the provolone and mozzarella cheeses over the dough. Spread the beef and vegetable mixture evenly on top, then sprinkle the remaining cheese over the filling.

Roll It Up: Starting from one end, carefully roll the dough tightly around the filling, then pinch the ends to seal. Place the seam side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Egg Wash: Brush the top of the rolled Stromboli with the beaten egg to give it a nice golden color.

Cut Slits: Use a sharp knife to cut diagonal slits on top to allow steam to escape.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cooked through.

Slice and Serve: Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing into thick pieces. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
