Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or ground turkey

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped

1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons A1 steak sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

4 slices provolone cheese (or Cheez Whiz for a classic touch)

4 soft hoagie rolls

Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper, and sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.

Add the sliced mushrooms (if using) and garlic, and continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes until everything is fragrant and tender.

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until the meat is browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.

Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, A1 steak sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Mix well and let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Lower the heat to medium-low, and lay slices of provolone cheese over the top of the meat mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and let the cheese melt for about 2-3 minutes.

To assemble the sloppy joes, slice each hoagie roll open and spoon a generous portion of the cheesesteak mixture inside. Optionally, sprinkle with chopped parsley for garnish.

Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes!
