Ingredients

1 pound of breakfast sausage (preferably spicy)

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup milk (or buttermilk for extra flavor)

1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional, for a kick)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the breakfast sausage and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well until the cheese is fully incorporated into the sausage.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the sausage and cheese mixture, stirring to combine.

Pour in the milk (or buttermilk) and hot sauce (if using), mixing until a dough forms. It should be moist but not sticky.

Using your hands, shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. They should be firm to the touch and have a nice crust on the outside.

Once done, remove the sausage balls from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
