Ingredients

12 lasagna noodles

1 lb ground beef

8 slices of bacon, chopped

1 medium onion, diced

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes

1 (15 oz) container ricotta cheese

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 tsp Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Lasagna Noodles: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay them flat on a baking sheet to prevent sticking.

Cook the Bacon: In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

Sauté the Beef and Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the ground beef and cook until browned. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent. Drain excess fat.

Add Crushed Tomatoes: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, bacon, Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper. Allow to simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Prepare Ricotta Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, half of the Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper, mixing until smooth.

Assemble the Lasagna: In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce at the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top. Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by 1/3 of the remaining meat sauce. Sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers two more times, ending with noodles on top.

Final Layer: For the final layer, add the remaining meat sauce and top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil (to prevent sticking, spray the foil with cooking spray) and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
