Ingredients

3-4 lbs beef brisket, trimmed

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon kosher salt

1 tablespoon black pepper

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for heat preference)

1 cup beef broth

1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite)

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Fresh rosemary and thyme sprigs for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Make sure to preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). This low and slow cooking method will help tenderize the brisket.

Prepare the Brisket: Pat the brisket dry with paper towels. This helps the seasoning stick and creates a beautiful crust.

Make the Rub: In a small bowl, combine the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.

Season the Brisket: Rub the brisket all over with olive oil, then generously apply the spice mix, ensuring it's evenly coated on all sides.

Sear the Brisket: In a large, oven-safe skillet or roasting pan over medium-high heat, sear the brisket for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. This step adds a depth of flavor.

Add Liquid: Once the brisket is seared, pour in the beef broth, barbecue sauce, and Worcestershire sauce around it (not on top). This will create a moist cooking environment.

Cover and Roast: Cover the skillet or pan tightly with aluminum foil to trap moisture. Place it in the oven and roast for 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.

Rest the Meat: After roasting, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest, covered, for at least 30 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute and keeps the meat moist.

Slice and Serve: After resting, slice the brisket against the grain into thin pieces. Serve with the pan juices drizzled on top and garnish with fresh rosemary and thyme. Enjoy it with your favorite sides!
