Ingredients

6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced

1 cup granulated sugar, divided

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon almond extract

Optional: vanilla ice cream, for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Peaches: In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Toss gently to coat and let sit for about 10 minutes to release the juices.

Make the Batter: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, and baking powder. Gradually add the milk and melted butter, stirring until just combined. Add the almond extract and mix until smooth.

Combine Peaches and Batter: Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, creating an even layer. Then, carefully pour the batter over the peaches; do not mix—it will rise during baking.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve: Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
