Ingredients

4 slices of white or whole wheat bread

1/2 cup Nutella

1 ripe banana, sliced

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons butter, softened

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Fresh strawberries or raspberries (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Bread: Use a rolling pin to flatten each slice of bread to about 1/4 inch thickness. This will help create a nice pocket for the filling.

Assemble the Pies: Spread a generous tablespoon of Nutella on half of the flattened bread slices. Place a few slices of banana on top of the Nutella. Sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon over the bananas for extra flavor.

Seal the Pies: Place the remaining flattened bread slices on top of the assembled ones, creating a sandwich. Press the edges down gently with your fingers to seal them, then use a fork to crimp and ensure they are securely closed.

Egg Wash: Brush the tops of each pie with the beaten egg to achieve a golden-brown color when cooked.

Cook the Pies: In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Place the pies in the skillet (you may need to work in batches) and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Add the remaining butter as needed.

Serve: Once cooked, remove from the skillet and let them cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Optionally, pair with fresh strawberries or raspberries on the side for added freshness.
