Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1/2 cup whole milk, warmed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup Nutella (or more, to taste)

Vegetable oil, for frying

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, salt, and nutmeg. In another bowl, mix the warmed milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Shape the Donuts: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out circles using a donut cutter or two different-sized round cutters. Reroll scraps if necessary. Place the cut donuts on a floured baking sheet and cover with a towel. Let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.

Heat the Oil: In a deep pan or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Make sure there's enough oil to allow the donuts to float while frying.

Fry the Donuts: Carefully drop the donuts into the hot oil a few at a time (don’t overcrowd the pan). Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove the donuts and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Fill with Nutella: Once the donuts are cool enough to handle, fill a piping bag with Nutella. Insert the piping tip into the side of each donut and squeeze gently to fill them with Nutella.

Dust and Serve: Lightly dust the filled donuts with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your delicious Nutella stuffed donuts warm!
