Ingredients

2 slices of thick sourdough bread

4 oz ground beef

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons butter

4 slices of sharp cheddar cheese

1 slice of pepper jack cheese

1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)

Fresh arugula or spinach (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain any excess fat. Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Butter the Bread: Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread. For extra flavor, you can mix a pinch of garlic powder into the butter before spreading.

Assemble the Sandwich: On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer 2 slices of cheddar cheese, followed by the cooked beef mixture, a slice of pepper jack cheese, and the second slice of cheddar cheese. Top with the other slice of sourdough, buttered side facing up.

Grill the Sandwich: Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and grill for about 4-5 minutes until the bread is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich, pressing down slightly with a spatula, and cook the other side for an additional 4-5 minutes until golden and the cheese has melted.

Optional Additions: If desired, spread mayonnaise on the inside of the bread before adding the cheese and beef for added creaminess.

Serve: Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for a minute. Cut it diagonally and serve with a handful of fresh arugula or spinach for a fresh touch.
