2 ounces hot water (not boiling, approx. 175°F or 80°C)

1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)

1/4 cup warm milk or milk alternative (optional, for a latte)

Bamboo whisk or small whisk (for mixing)

Matcha bowl or a small bowl for whisking

Instructions
 

Preparation: Begin by sifting the matcha green tea powder into your matcha bowl or a small bowl. This will help avoid clumps and ensure a smooth drink.

    Water Temperature: Heat water to about 175°F (80°C). Do not use boiling water as it can scorch the matcha, imparting a bitter flavor.

      Mixing: Gradually add the hot water to the bowl containing the sifted matcha powder.

        Whisking: Using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small whisk, briskly whisk the matcha and hot water in a zigzag motion until it’s fully dissolved, frothy, and has a vibrant green color. This should take about 1-2 minutes.

          Sweeten (Optional): If you prefer a sweeter matcha, add honey or maple syrup to taste and whisk again to combine.
