Ingredients

1 lb chicken tenders

1 cup buttermilk

1 tablespoon hot sauce (adjust to taste)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)

Salt and pepper to taste

Oil, for frying

1/2 cup honey

1-2 tablespoons hot sauce (for mixing with honey)

Fresh herbs (like parsley or cilantro) for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add the chicken tenders, cover, and let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour (up to overnight for deeper flavor).

Prepare the Coating: In another bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. This will be the seasoned coating for your chicken tenders.

Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or fryer, heat about 1 inch of oil to 350°F (175°C). You can test if the oil is ready by dropping a bit of flour mixture in; if it sizzles, it’s good to go.

Dredge the Chicken: Remove the chicken tenders from the marinade, letting the excess buttermilk drip off. Dredge them thoroughly in the seasoned flour mixture, shaking off the excess.

Fry the Chicken: Carefully add the dredged chicken tenders to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C). Use tongs to remove them and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Make the Hot Honey Sauce: In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the honey and 1-2 tablespoons of hot sauce (adjust to your preferred heat level). Stir until warmed through and well combined. Remove from heat.

Glaze the Chicken: Drizzle the hot honey sauce over the fried chicken tenders or toss them in the sauce for a more thorough coating.

Serve: Garnish with freshly chopped herbs if desired. Serve your Hot Honey Chicken Tenders warm, alongside dipping sauces like ranch or more hot sauce.
