At the heart of this recipe lies raw honey, a natural sweetener that stands out for its numerous health benefits. Unlike processed honey, which often loses valuable nutrients during refinement, raw honey retains its natural enzymes, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. This makes it not just a sweetener, but a powerhouse of health benefits. Raw honey is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a great addition to your diet. Its rich, complex flavor also provides a delightful base for the spiciness that follows.

Ingredients

1 cup raw honey

2 tablespoons chili flakes (adjust for spice level)

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

In a small saucepan, combine the raw honey and chili flakes over low heat. Stir gently to allow the flavors to meld without boiling the honey.

After about 3-5 minutes, once the honey starts to loosen up, add the apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, sea salt, and garlic powder if using.

Stir well to combine all the ingredients, taking care not to let the honey boil. Continue to heat for another 3-4 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.

Once the mixture is heated through and well blended, remove from heat and squeeze in the fresh lemon juice. Stir to incorporate.

Let the Hot Honey cool to room temperature, then transfer it to a clean jar or airtight container.

Allow it to steep for a couple of hours at room temperature for optimal flavor infusion, or refrigerate if not using immediately.

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Total Time: 20 minutes | Servings: Makes about 1 cup
