Ingredients

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Whipped cream (for topping)

Dark chocolate shavings (for garnish)

A sprinkle of cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Stir gently until the mixture begins to warm, but do not bring it to a boil.

While the milk mixture is warming, place the semi-sweet chocolate chips, cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla extract, and sea salt in a mixing bowl.

Once the milk and cream mixture is steaming, pour it over the chocolate mixture. Whisk vigorously until all the ingredients are melted and fully combined. Ensure there are no lumps of cocoa or chocolate remaining.

Taste your hot chocolate and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar if desired.

Return the hot chocolate to the saucepan and warm gently over low heat, stirring occasionally, until hot.

Serve the hot chocolate in mugs, topped generously with whipped cream.

Garnish with dark chocolate shavings and a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired. Enjoy!
