Honey Pepper Chicken Mac and Cheese

8 oz elbow macaroni

2 cups shredded cooked chicken

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

2 cups milk

1/2 cup honey

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

2 tbsp butter

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

Salt to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Cook the Macaroni: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

    Prepare the Cheese Sauce: In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until it forms a paste. Gradually pour in the milk while continuously whisking to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens and is smooth.

      Add Cheese and Seasonings: Reduce the heat to low, then stir in the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted. Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt, adjusting to taste.

        Combine Chicken and Honey: In a separate bowl, mix the shredded chicken with honey and a pinch of black pepper. Stir until the chicken is well-coated with honey and pepper.

          Mix It Together: Add the cooked macaroni and the honey pepper chicken into the cheese sauce. Stir until everything is combined and evenly coated.

            Transfer to Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the mac and cheese mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

              Prepare the Topping: In a small bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with a drizzle of melted butter, then sprinkle evenly over the mac and cheese.

                Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

                  Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it stand for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
