Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs

1/3 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, apple cider vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until well blended.

Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken thighs in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring it's well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor).

Cook the Chicken: Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil to the skillet. Remove chicken from marinade (reserving the marinade) and season with salt and pepper.

Sear the Chicken: Add the chicken thighs to the skillet or grill. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and has a nice golden brown color.

Make the Sauce: While the chicken is cooking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Glaze the Chicken: Once the chicken is cooked, brush the thickened sauce over the chicken thighs for extra flavor, ensuring they are fully coated. Cook for an additional minute, allowing the glaze to caramelize slightly.

Serve: Remove the chicken from heat and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving. Pair it with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
