Ingredients

1 box German chocolate cake mix

1 1/4 cups water

1/2 cup vegetable oil

3 large eggs

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup shredded coconut

1 cup chopped pecans

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

Whipped cream (for topping, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Cake:

    - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

      - In a large mixing bowl, combine the German chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until well blended.

        Bake the Cake:

          - Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake according to package instructions or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (about 30-35 minutes).

            - Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes.

              Poke the Cake:

                - Use the handle of a wooden spoon or a large fork to poke holes all over the top of the warm cake, ensuring you make enough holes for the filling.

                  Make Filling:

                    - In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk with the semi-sweet chocolate chips, stirring until smooth and melted.

                      - Pour the chocolate mixture evenly over the holes of the cake, allowing it to seep in.

                        Prepare the Coconut-Pecan Topping:

                          - In a medium bowl, mix together the shredded coconut, chopped pecans, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until everything is combined.

                            Add Topping:

                              - Spread the coconut-pecan mixture evenly over the top of the cake once it has cooled completely.

                                Chill and Serve:

                                  - Cover and refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld together.

                                    - Serve chilled or at room temperature, topped with whipped cream if desired.

Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 5 hours (including chilling) | Servings: 12-16 slices
