Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed

100g (3.5 oz) cooked ham, chopped

150g (5 oz) shredded cheese (like Gruyère or cheddar)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it's about 1/8 inch thick. Cut the pastry into 4 squares, around 4 inches on each side.

In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped ham, shredded cheese, Dijon mustard, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Spoon the ham and cheese mixture evenly onto one half of each puff pastry square, leaving a small border around the edges.

Carefully fold the other half of the pastry over the filling to create a triangle shape. Press down the edges to seal them well. You can crimp the edges with a fork for an extra touch.

Brush the tops of the puff pastries with the beaten egg for a golden finish. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.

Place the pastries on the baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.

Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
