Ingredients

1 pound of fresh button or cremini mushrooms, cleaned and stems trimmed

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves of garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried thyme (or 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped)

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a spicy kick)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and black pepper to taste

Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions

Prep the Mushrooms: Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. If they are large, you can slice them in half or quarters for even cooking.

Sauté the Garlic: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.

Add Mushrooms: Add the mushrooms to the skillet and toss to coat them with the garlic butter. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they become tender and start to brown.

Season: Sprinkle in the dried thyme and red pepper flakes, if using, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Sauté for another 2-3 minutes.

Add Cheese: Reduce the heat to low and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the mushrooms. Toss gently until the cheese melts and coats the mushrooms evenly.

Finish Up: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped parsley for freshness.

Serve: Transfer the Garlic Parmesan Mushrooms to a serving dish. Serve warm with lemon wedges on the side for an extra burst of flavor.
