Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Juice of 1 lemon

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon olive oil

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Cooked rice or quinoa, for serving (optional)

Instructions

Prepare Ingredients: Rinse the broccoli florets and set aside. Ensure the shrimp is peeled and deveined.

Blanch Broccoli: In a pot of boiling water, blanch the broccoli florets for about 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and immediately plunge them into ice water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.

Cook Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp, seasoning them with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on one side, then flip them over and cook for another 1-2 minutes until they are pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Make Garlic Butter: In the same skillet, add the butter and minced garlic. Sauté the garlic for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

Combine Ingredients: Add the blanched broccoli back into the skillet and stir to coat it in the garlic butter. Squeeze the juice of one lemon over the mixture and toss everything together to combine. Then gently fold in the cooked shrimp and toss until heated through.

Serve: Serve immediately. You can place the shrimp and broccoli mixture over a bed of rice or quinoa for a complete meal.
