Ingredients

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

½ cup warm water (about 110°F)

½ cup whole milk, warmed

¼ cup granulated sugar

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for brushing)

1 teaspoon salt

3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)

1 tablespoon parmesan cheese, grated (optional)

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5–10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, and salt, then add the frothy yeast mixture. Mix well.

Combine Dry Ingredients: Gradually add 3 ½ cups of flour to the wet ingredients, mixing with a spoon or dough hook until a soft dough forms. If the dough is sticky, add more flour, 1 tablespoon at a time, until just combined.

Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Prepare Garlic Butter: While the dough is rising, melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and optional parmesan cheese.

Shape the Rolls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Second Rise: Cover the dish with a towel and let the rolls rise for another 30–45 minutes, until they double in size.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake the Rolls: Brush the top of the rolls with half of the garlic butter mixture. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until they are golden brown.

Finish with Garlic Butter: As soon as the rolls are out of the oven, brush them with the remaining garlic butter and sprinkle with chopped parsley for garnish.

Serve Warm: Let them cool for a few minutes before serving warm with additional melted butter if desired.
