Ingredients

4 cod fillets (about 6 oz each)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

5 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Cod: Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, pepper, and paprika (if using). Set aside.

Melt the Butter: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once the butter has melted and is bubbling, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant and golden, but not browned.

Cook the Cod: Carefully place the seasoned cod fillets in the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them, until they are golden brown. Flip the fillets gently using a spatula.

Add Flavor: After flipping the cod, add the lemon juice, lemon zest, and chopped parsley to the pan. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, spooning the garlic butter over the top of the fish as it cooks. The cod is done when it flakes easily with a fork.

Serve: Remove the cod from the skillet and plate it. Drizzle the garlic butter sauce from the pan over the tops of the fillets and garnish with additional parsley and lemon wedges if desired.
