Ingredients

For Fudgy Brownies:

1 cup unsalted butter

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar, packed

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup walnuts or pecans (optional)

For Cakey Brownies:

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

For Fudgy Brownies:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter and chocolate chips together, stirring until smooth and glossy.

Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before stirring in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.

Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.

Sift in the flour and salt, folding gently until just combined. If using nuts, add them now.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

                  For Cakey Brownies:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.

Melt butter in a medium bowl, then mix in granulated sugar until combined.

Stir in eggs, one at a time, and add vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.

Pour into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, with a few crumbs.

                                  Prep Time: 20 min | Total Time: 55 min | Servings: 16
