Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

1 green bell pepper, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 medium onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked rice, for serving

Optional: chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the beef evenly and let it marinate for 15-30 minutes.

Prepare the Vegetables: While the beef marinates, slice the bell peppers and onion, and mince the garlic and ginger.

Cook the Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak to the pan in a single layer, cooking for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Flip and cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes or until cooked through. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Start by adding the sliced onion, cooking for 2 minutes until slightly softened. Then add the green and red bell peppers, minced garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry everything together for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet crispy.

Combine and Sauce: Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the veggies. Pour in the oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil, stirring until everything is well coated and heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve: Serve the pepper steak hot over a bed of cooked rice, and garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
