1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Gruyère cheese

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Salt and black pepper to taste

A pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    Sauté Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and one tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the shrimp, season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the shrimp turn pink but not fully cooked. Remove from heat.

      Make the Cream Mixture: In a bowl, combine the heavy cream, lemon zest, and half of the Gruyère cheese. Stir in the chopped parsley and season with salt and pepper.

        Combine Shrimp and Sauce: Add the sautéed shrimp to the cream mixture, ensuring that the shrimp are evenly coated.

          Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the shrimp and cream mixture into a greased baking dish (approximately 9x9 inches).

            Prepare the Topping: In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, remaining Gruyère cheese, and melted butter until well combined. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the shrimp.

              Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
