Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup milk

1 large egg

½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup pepperoni slices (or diced cooked sausage)

1 cup marinara sauce (plus extra for serving)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin with cooking spray or butter.

Prepare the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning until well combined.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, and egg. Whisk until smooth and then slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.

Add Toppings: Gently fold in the shredded mozzarella cheese and pepperoni (or sausage) into the batter, ensuring it's evenly distributed.

Fill Muffin Tin: Spoon the batter into the muffin tin, filling each cavity about halfway full. Make a small indentation in the center of each batter-filled cup.

Add Marinara: Carefully add about a tablespoon of marinara sauce into the indentation of each cupcake. Sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese over the top of the sauce.

Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the cupcake comes out clean.

Cool and Serve: Let the deep dish pizza cupcakes cool in the tin for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Serve warm with extra marinara on the side for dipping.

Garnish: If desired, garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
