Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Chocolate ganache (for drizzling)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar until fully combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until the mixture is smooth and glossy.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to ensure even distribution.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients, folding gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Add Chocolate and Nuts: Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped walnuts (if using). Ensure they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Cool: Allow the brownie cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare Ganache: While the cake cools, you can prepare the chocolate ganache. In a small saucepan, heat 1/2 cup heavy cream until just simmering. Remove from heat and add 1 cup of chocolate chips. Let it sit for a few minutes, then stir until smooth.

Serve: Once the cake is completely cool, dust with powdered sugar and drizzle the chocolate ganache over the top. Cut into squares and serve warm or at room temperature.
