Ingredients

For the Choux Pastry:

1 cup water

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

4 large eggs

For the Cream Filling:

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping:

1/4 cup chocolate ganache (store-bought or homemade)

Fresh berries (optional, for garnish)

Additional powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Make the Choux Pastry:

      - In a medium saucepan, combine water and butter over medium heat. Bring to a boil.

        - Once boiling, add the flour and salt all at once. Stir vigorously until the mixture pulls away from the sides and forms a ball.

          - Remove from heat, and let it cool slightly (about 5 minutes).

            - Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

              Pipe the Pastry:

                - Transfer the choux pastry to a piping bag fitted with a large round tip.

                  - Pipe 1-inch circles onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

                    Bake:

                      - Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.

                        - Turn off the oven and leave the door slightly ajar for 10 minutes to allow the pastries to cool down gradually.

                          Prepare the Cream Filling:

                            - In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until it starts to thicken.

                              - Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then continue to whip until stiff peaks form.

                                Assemble the Cake:

                                  - Once the choux pastries are completely cooled, cut each puff in half horizontally.

                                    - Fill each bottom half with a generous amount of whipped cream, then replace the tops.

                                      Drizzle and Garnish:

                                        - Drizzle chocolate ganache over the assembled cream puff cake.

                                          - Optionally, garnish with fresh berries and dust with powdered sugar.

                                            Serve:

                                              - Slice into wedges and serve immediately, or keep refrigerated until ready to serve. Enjoy this delightful treat!
