Ingredients

For the Choux Pastry:

1 cup water

½ cup unsalted butter

1 teaspoon sugar

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

4 large eggs

For the Cream Filling:

2 cups heavy whipping cream

½ cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Ganache:

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup heavy cream

For Garnish:

Chocolate shavings

Fresh berries (optional)

Instructions

Make the Choux Pastry:

    - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

      - In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat until the butter is melted.

        - Remove the saucepan from heat, add the flour all at once, and stir vigorously until combined. Return to heat and cook, stirring constantly, for about 2-3 minutes until the mixture pulls away from the sides and forms a ball.

          - Remove the pan from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until smooth and shiny.

            - Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a large round tip. Pipe 1½-inch rounds onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

              - Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cream puffs are golden and puffed. Do not open the oven door while baking to prevent collapse. Allow them to cool completely.

                Prepare the Cream Filling:

                  - In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until it begins to thicken. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue whipping until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to overbeat.

                    Make the Chocolate Ganache:

                      - In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips in a bowl. Let it sit for a minute, then stir until smooth and glossy.

                        Assemble the Cake:

                          - Slice each cream puff in half horizontally. Fill the bottom half with a generous amount of whipped cream, then replace the top half.

                            - Place the filled cream puffs on a serving plate, and drizzle with the chocolate ganache. Top with chocolate shavings and fresh berries if desired.

                              Serve and Enjoy:

                                - Refrigerate the assembled cake for about 30 minutes before serving to allow the cream to set slightly. Slice into wedges or serve as individual cream puffs.
