Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 medium carrots, diced

2 medium potatoes, diced

1 cup frozen peas

1 cup beef or vegetable broth

1 cup heavy cream

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp tomato paste

1 tsp dried thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tbsp olive oil

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Sauté Veggies: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes or until the onion becomes translucent.

Brown the Meat: Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Carrots and Potatoes: Stir in the diced carrots and potatoes. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, allowing the vegetables to soften slightly.

Create the Sauce: Pour in the beef or vegetable broth, heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste. Sprinkle in the dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Add Peas: Once simmering, fold in the frozen peas and let the mixture cook for another 10-15 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and the sauce has thickened to your liking.

Transfer and Top: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Once out of the oven, garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm and enjoy the comforting, hearty flavors of your dish!
