Ingredients

2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded

1 cup marinara sauce

1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1 package (1 lb) refrigerated pizza dough

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Olive oil, for brushing

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Mix well until everything is evenly coated.

Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. Cut the dough into equal rectangles, approximately 6x4 inches.

Spoon a generous amount of the chicken mixture into the center of each dough rectangle, leaving about 1-inch border around the edges.

Fold the dough over the filling to create a pocket, and pinch the edges to seal securely. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for an extra seal.

Place the hot pockets on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with beaten egg and drizzle a little olive oil over each pocket for a golden finish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pockets are golden brown and cooked through.

Allow to cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
