Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove it from the heat and stir in both the granulated and brown sugars until well combined.

Allow the mixture to cool slightly before whisking in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Gently fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using) until evenly distributed.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (do not overbake).

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before cutting them into squares.
