Ingredients

1 cup graham cracker crumbs

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans, optional)

Sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

Prepare the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, oats, shredded coconut, melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix well until everything is combined and has a crumbly texture.

Bake the Base: Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.

Add Caramel Layer: Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the baked base, spreading it evenly. Then, sprinkle the chopped nuts (if using) over the caramel layer.

Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second increments, stirring between each interval until completely smooth. Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer and spread it evenly.

Final Touch: Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top of the chocolate. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the caramel for added flavor.

Chill and Set: Place the bars in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until the chocolate is set and firm.

Cut and Serve: Once set, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into squares or rectangles as desired and enjoy your delightful homemade dessert!
