It draws its roots from the Acadian people, who settled in the bayous and developed a unique culinary style that embraces the region’s rich agricultural bounty. At the heart of Cajun cooking is the idea of layering flavors, using fresh, local ingredients, and, most importantly, a generous dose of spices to create dishes that are both satisfying and memorable.

Ingredients

8 oz beef sirloin, thinly sliced

8 oz shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 yellow bell pepper, sliced

1 small onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon honey

Salt and pepper to taste

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

1 cup cooked jasmine rice (for serving)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef and Shrimp: In a bowl, combine the sliced beef and shrimp with half of the Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Prepare the Stir-Fry Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, and the remaining Cajun seasoning. Set aside.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes, until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.

Cook the Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil. Once hot, add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Remove and set aside with the beef.

Sauté the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the sliced onions, bell peppers, and garlic. Stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet crisp.

Combine Everything: Return the beef and shrimp to the skillet, pour in the stir-fry sauce, and mix well. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the beef to finish cooking and everything to get heated through.

Serve: Serve the Cajun-spiced beef and shrimp stir-fry over cooked jasmine rice. Garnish with chopped green onions for a fresh finish.
