Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 box of yellow cake mix

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup buttermilk

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup chopped pecans (toasted)

For the Praline Topping:

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup toasted pecans, roughly chopped

For the Whipped Cream Topping:

2 cups heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Cake:

    - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish.

      - In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.

        - Fold in the chopped pecans (reserve some for topping), then pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.

          - Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

            Create the Poke Cake:

              - Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes.

                - Use the handle of a wooden spoon or a skewer to poke holes all over the top of the cake, about 1 inch apart.

                  Make the Praline Topping:

                    - In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Cook over medium heat until everything is melted and combined, stirring frequently.

                      - Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and let it cook for about 2-3 minutes without stirring.

                        - Remove from heat and quickly whisk in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.

                          - Pour the hot praline mixture over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.

                            Chill the Cake:

                              - Let the cake cool completely, then cover it with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for the best flavor.

                                Prepare the Whipped Cream Topping:

                                  - In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.

                                    Assemble and Serve:

                                      - Once the cake is chilled, spread the whipped cream topping over the surface.

                                        - Sprinkle with the reserved chopped pecans for a delightful crunch.

                                          - Slice into squares and serve cold. Enjoy the rich and indulgent layers of flavor!
