Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon brown sugar

Salt and pepper to taste

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and brown sugar. Mix well and let it marinate for about 20 minutes.

Blanch the Broccoli: In a boiling pot of salted water, add the broccoli florets and blanch for about 2 minutes until bright green. Immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain and set aside.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over high heat. Add the marinated beef (reserve the marinade) in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes without moving them until browned. Flip the beef to sear the other side (another 2-3 minutes). Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Stir-Fry Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the blanched broccoli and stir-fry for another 2 minutes.

Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked beef to the skillet along with any reserved marinade. Stir well to combine all ingredients and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the broccoli is tender yet crisp.

Serve: Plate the beef and broccoli mixture over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds for an extra touch of flavor.
