Ingredients

12 large pasta shells

1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare filling: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Season meat: Stir in the oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Mix cheeses: In a large bowl, combine the ricotta, half of the mozzarella, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Add the cooked beef mixture and stir until well combined.

Stuff shells: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Using a spoon, carefully stuff each pasta shell with the beef and cheese mixture. Place the stuffed shells in the baking dish.

Add sauce and cheese: Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious beef-stuffed shells!
