Ingredients

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled

1-2 jalapeños, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

2 cups breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

Mix the Cheese Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, crumbled bacon, diced jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated and smooth.

Shape the Balls: Using your hands or a small cookie scoop, form the cheese mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Once shaped, refrigerate the balls for about 30 minutes to help them firm up.

Prepare for Coating: Set up a dredging station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, the second with beaten eggs, and the third with breadcrumbs.

Coat the Cheese Balls: Remove the cheese balls from the fridge. Roll each ball in the flour first, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs. Ensure each ball is fully covered for a crispy outer layer.

Heat the Oil: In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You want enough oil for the cheese balls to float while frying.

Fry the Cheese Balls: Carefully add a few cheese balls to the hot oil at a time, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the balls and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serve and Enjoy: Allow the cheese balls to cool slightly before serving. They’re best served warm, with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping if desired.
