Ingredients

1 cup water

2 tablespoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 large egg

1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, combine the water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the all-purpose flour until a smooth dough forms.

Allow the dough to cool slightly, then mix in the vanilla extract and the egg until well combined. The dough will be thick and slightly sticky.

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip to achieve the classic churro shape.

Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.

Pipe 4-6 inch lengths of dough onto a sheet of parchment paper or directly into the air fryer basket (ensure you do not overcrowd).

Air fry the churros for 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through, flipping them halfway for even cooking.

While the churros are air frying, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl.

After removing the churros from the air fryer, immediately roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Serve warm and enjoy your light churros with a side of chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping!
